Fraser Valley Screens Ltd. helps out Langley program that funds hockey for impoverished children
The Langley Eagles Minor Hockey Association hosted its 12th Annual Gil Martin Memorial Pee Wee ‘AAA’ Hockey Tournament in November 2016 in Langley, BC. This tournament is a tribute to the memory of Gil Martin who passed away on July 10, 2005. Gil was very involved in the local Minor Hockey Association and he was a dedicated member for over seven years. He believed in motivation, a positive healthy attitude, and effective communication to be intrinsic elements of quality instruction, and ultimately success in sports and life.
To honor Gil’s philosophy and ensure his vision of helping kids play hockey remained alive the PuCKS Program was launched at this tournament. The PuCKS Program provides funds to impoverished Langley children to pay for their registration and team fees. All proceeds from this event were donated to the PuCKS Program Society. The tournament attracted an array of high caliber teams from within B.C. in areas of Vancouver Island and locally throughout the Lower Mainland as well as from the United States.
The success of this tournament is largely due to support received from the Community and local businesses.
Bob Perry and Chris Anderson of West Coast Retractable Screen Systems Ltd., a Mirage Dealer located in Langley BC, donated a Mirage Retractable Screen and custom installation as a silent auction item for the event.
